AB&I hosts tour for Acorn Woodland Elementary School students
June 5, 2018
After hosting a tour for 16 Stanford University students on May 4, AB&I had the opportunity to host 50 4th graders from Acorn Woodland Elementary school on May 22. The two 4th grade classes were working on an environmental project and specifically wanted to focus on how AB&I takes care of the environment. Hanna Sufrin, one of the 4th grade teachers, said that the students were learning about pollution, and the students had questions about recycling.
After gathering in the Training Room and welcoming the students, Dave Robinson, Rich Watson and Monica Perez had a brief Q&A period and the students asked very good questions relating to the environmental project they are working on.
The students and chaperones were divided into four groups with tour guides in the front and back for a modified tour of the foundry. After the tour, they were given a mesh back pack that had the AB&I and Acorn Woodland logos. They were also able to get a 4" frying pan if they answered certain questions correctly, like the color of the Bag Houses, how long AB&I has been in business, the color of the sand used in the manufacturing process, etc. After the tours, the students and teachers thanked the AB&I team for taking time out of our busy day to show them the foundry and answer all their questions.
Fourth Grade teacher Hanna Sufrin wrote, "Dear Zeydi, we were truly touched by the amount of planning and collaboration that went into our students' visit to AB&I today. Please extend our deep gratitude to every member of the AB&I team for their willingness to take time off work to teach our students so kindly. The cast iron pans and bags were an incredibly generous cherry on top. Thank you. We look forward to working together in the future! All the best to you and the whole AB&I team!"
This is the first time AB&I has given a tour to a group this young, but it was an amazing experience for both the students and AB&I's team members. Acorn Woodland is preparing our future generation very well. Thank you to all of our team members for helping to make this day such a positive experience for all.
