AB&I hosts tour for Oakland Police Department
November 12, 2018
On November 6, Chief of Police Anne Kirkpatrick, Deputy Chief of Police Darren Allison and Chief of Staff Lt. Dominique Arotzarena visited AB&I to meet with Michael Lowe and Zeydi Gutierrez and to tour the foundry. Deputy COP Allison had driven by numerous times and never realized that there was a foundry there. They came with an open mind and ready to learn as much as possible about AB&I’s business, culture and legacy in Oakland.
Michael gave the visitors an overview of AB&I’s history, operations and culture and Zeydi talked about their outreach efforts and thanked them for patrolling the areas where AB&I volunteers were working during the recent neighborhood cleanup. Michael took them on a tour of the foundry and they were fascinated with the operations. They were particularly surprised at what they saw inside in terms of the intricacy of what AB&I makes and how it is made. They were also extremely impressed with the longevity of our team members and how rooted AB&I is in Oakland as a legacy business.
AB&I provides a gun melt service to the Oakland Police Department as well as other police departments from surrounding communities and Chief Kirkpatrick expressed an interest in attending the next event.
