December 13, 2018
On December 6, the Association of Manufacturers Bay Area held a panel discussion at the County of Alameda Social Services Agency. The panel was made up of four manufacturing ambassadors from different organizations in the bay area and moderated by James Gardner, the Executive Director of AMBay Area. The represented companies were AB&I Foundry, Casa Sanchez Foods, East Bay Municipal Utilities District and Shell Martinez. The representatives from these companies held a discussion with members of the public who were interested in learning about opportunities in the manufacturing field. The young panelists shared with the public what manufacturing in the bay area is like and what it brings to the local communities: diverse, i.e., well-paying careers, apprenticeships, etc.
The theme of the event was This isn’t your grandpa’s factory. Today’s production jobs offer good pay and benefits, clean working conditions, and upward mobility. Night shift Cupola Supervisor Roberto Ramirez represented AB&I at the event. Roberto joined AB&I over a year ago after graduating from Chico State.
