AB&I team members volunteer at Alameda Food Bank on Cesar Chaves Day
April 30, 2019
Did you know that California celebrates Cesar Chavez Day on March 31? Cesar Chavez Day is actually a public holiday in nine states and is celebrated on his birthday every year as a tribute to his commitment to social justice and respect for human dignity. AB&I team members celebrated this day by volunteering to package food at the Alameda Food Bank. The Alameda Food Bank has supplied millions of healthy meals for families in the community for over 30 years. Priscilla Ramirez who was joined by her sister said, “It was amazing to see volunteers from all age groups come together to package food. It was a very humbling experience.” AB&I volunteer Juan Cordero personally knew and worked with Cesar Chavez. While packaging food Juan shared stories about his time working in the fields with Cesar.
Volunteers were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer during this special event and meet the Chavez family.
