Tyler Pipe Lends a hand to the East Texas Food Bank
August 12, 2014
On Saturday, August 2, thirty (30) Tyler Pipe Team Members arrived in the pattern shop to participate in the East Texas Food Bank Backpack Program to stuff backpacks with non-perishable food for underprivileged children in the community. The East Texas Food Bank brought enough food that it should have taken approximately three hours to stuff the backpacks but thanks to the tenacity and hard work of the Tyler Pipe Team, they knocked it out in just over two and a half hours.
Event Coordinator Jennifer Yoder was proud to report that they sacked, boxed, taped and stacked over 2,000 backpacks which will provide enough food for the Tyler Independent School District children for two weeks.
Team Volunteers were treated to a good old fashion cookout courtesy of AGM Greg Simmons can be seen in the picture working up a sweat to benefit the Tyler community.
