On August 25, Tyler Union team members attended a technical session at UAB’s foundry for the Birmingham Chapter of the American Foundry Society (AFS) that they had a part in planning. The event included a discussion on 3-D printing technology and hands on gating design using Magma software.

Attending from Tyler Union were Jon Pollard (Plant Manager and Chairman of the Birmingham AFS Chapter), Ron Aultman (Product Engineering Manager and Chapter Education Committee member), Noah Holt (Product Design Tech) and Jeff Young (Manufacturing Design Tech). Kevin Dodson, who interned at Tyler Union during his summer break from Virginia Tech, also attended. Kevin is majoring in Materials Science and Engineering and worked under the supervision of Ron Aultman during his internship
