Amerex Defense

Amerex Defense was established by Amerex Corporation in 2009 for the sole purpose of providing innovative and reliable fire suppression solutions to our war fighters at home and abroad. We work primarily through well-established government distributors and defense industry original equipment manufacturers. We offer a full line of hand portable extinguishers, specialty wheeled units and fire suppression systems. Our product offering is currently used to protect U.S. military personnel and tactical ground vehicle assets, as well as those of U.S. foreign government allies.

Explosion Detection and Suppression
Field-proven UV/IR detection provides high-speed optical flame detection while maintaining immunity to sources of UV and IR radiation to avoid unwanted system discharges. To reduce weight and the number of components, one of the detectors also contains a manual release switch and system control logic functions. Additional optical flame detectors can be added to cover larger and/or shaded areas of the hazard.

Zone Control Panels
The Amerex Single and Dual Zone Modular Control Panels are designed specifically for rugged military, off-road and commercial heavy duty ground vehicle applications. The lightweight Aluminum enclosure surrounds military qualified electronic components. Each Control Panel provides electrical supervision of power, heat detection, actuation and releasing circuits that can be used in combination with Amerex dry chemicals, liquid agents or aerosol generators in Amerex designed Fire Suppression Systems.

Dry Chemical Fire Suppression
Commercial dry chemical fire suppression systems have been protecting commercial over-the-road and off-road vehicle and military vehicles since 1991. These systems consist of pressurized agent tanks discharging dry chemical through a network of nozzles targeting the protected area. Dry chemicals have been proven to be some of the most effective firefighting agents available today.

Aerosol Generator Fire Suppression
When weight savings are a high priority and the space being protected is enclosed, aerosol generators could be the solution. This relatively new technology provides an alternative to conventional dry chemical or clean agent fire protection in some applications. The aerosol generator is actuated electrically discharging an aerosol over 10 to 20 seconds depending on the size of the unit. These units are disposable, being discarded and replaced after a discharge rather than refilled.

Liquid Fire Suppression
Liquid fire suppression and crew cooling incorporating potassium acetate (K-ACE) provides superior firefighting and cooling performance over a broad temperature range. Pressurized tanks holding one gallon of agent are designed to discharge over extended periods of time to provide cooling of crew, allowing time for rescue firefighting and extraction of trapped crew inside a vehicle. K-ACE also provides excellent firefighting capability on Class B (flammable liquids) and Class A (normal combustibles).

Engine Bay
Amerex Defense primarily uses field-proven Purple K Dry Chemical for engine bay fire suppression systems. Smaller dry chemical extinguishers have been added to the product family for tactical wheeled vehicles. These smaller extinguishers reduce system weight while providing excellent firefighting performance in specific target areas.

Wheel & Tire
Amerex Defense primarily uses field-proven Purple K Dry Chemical for wheel and tire fire suppression systems. Smaller dry chemical extinguishers have been added to the product family for tactical wheeled vehicles. These smaller extinguishers reduce system weight while providing excellent firefighting performance in specific target areas.

Custom Zones
Amerex Defense offers configurable automatic and manually-operated suppression systems to suit a wide variety of hazard areas. Protected zones can be configured to suit virtually any zone or enclosure from cargo compartments to exterior vehicle surfaces and egress paths.
